S2 History - Exploration

The theme of S2 History is 'Exploration'. Learners begin by identifying what the Renaissance period was and why this was an important time in History. This allows pupils to examine the new ideas that arose during this time that lead people to explore different parts of the world. Some examples of key individuals the pupils study are Marco Polo and Leonardo Da Vinci. Once learners have developed their knowledge about how the world developed they begin to look at issues that arose in the New World such as Slavery.

S3 History - Revolution, Conflict and Peace.

The course will be based on a series of 'big questions'.  These will ask you about some of the central issues in the study of World War One and its aftermath, the rise of the Nazi party and Scotland's revolutionary changes in the 19th Century. You will be searching for answers to these questions and you will gather evidence, debate your theories and ideas, expand your knowledge, and ultimately use your own judgement to arrive at an answer for each question.
